About Julie A. Wear
As a youngster at school, while other kids were studying and worrying about their grades, Julie was hard at work perfecting her horse drawing skills on school books, desks, test papers or almost anything. She remembers one teacher's wry remark after looking at the test paper she had just handed in: "Great horse! But no right answers. Julie, I'm afraid I'm going to have to fail you." Not to be discouraged, she pursued her obsession with horses and embarked upon a journey of self-study. Too impatient for art schooling and determined to follow a style of painting she saw in her mind, she came to the realization that a study of the masters in museums was what she needed to do. It is the techniques developed by these masters that have influenced and shaped her painting style. Through blending and utilizing light, she presents the horse with life, energy and movement. It is a style reminiscent of the past and in the classic tradition. Today, Wear is recognized and sought after internationally for her masterful, life-like, portraits of horses. She has been asked to portray such legendary champions as, Seattle Slew, Winning Colors, Lady's Secret, Storm Cat, Dayjur, Zilzal, Favorite Trick, Serena's Song, Victory Gallop, Banshee Breeze, Real Quiet and Shirley Heights for their owners and breeders including Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. As the recently retired manager of The Royal Stud, Michael Oswald, states, "This is the finest Thoroughbred portraiture I've ever seen." Copyright
